Happy Friday from Frost Free

Best way to start Friday morning of National Library Week? Field Trip visit from our friends at Cedar Crest Center for Children and their staff. Their teacher, Elaina, visits regularly to check out piles of stories for them to enjoy at school and it was so great to meet them all. They brought us hand-marbled bookmarks to share as well. The bookmarks are beautiful and will go fast, so pop in and pick one up soon. Big thanks to Jaimie Henry for donating a Childcraft board book storage unit to help us with our growing and well-loved collection. Also to Trustee, Vice Chair, Merri Rayno, for thoughtful gifts to the staff for all the ways they support our community. Three cheers for Miriah as well, lemon dump cake and unicorn fudge were a big hit at this week’s Friends Tea. Thanks also to our partners at #NHSL, New Hampshire State Library, we received news that we have been awarded a Summer Learning Grant in support of summer learning in Marlborough this year. Funding for the NH State Library Summer Learning Grant is provided by the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation and funds administered by the NH State Library and provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services

We’ve had some fresh donations for the book cart sale so be sure to stock up.

What’s an axolotl?

Our summer learning grant will allow us to bring a new mascot to the Frost Free Library for summer learning. We hope you’ll be excited to help us observe and care for the newest member of our staff. We’ll keep a worm farm for snacks, record temperature and water tests, try scientific sketches and more. Worm castings and aquarium water will be used in the garden. Stay tuned to discover more with us at Frost Free.
